The ministry of the Peacechemo hats display Quilters is to make 60”x 80” quilts that are donated to Lutheran World Relief (LWR).  LWR partners with other agencies to distribute these quilts to disaster relief areas worldwide. The quilts will not only be used for warmth as a blanket, but often as a shelter, a room divider, or a satchel for carrying their belongings.

We also minister to members of Peace when situations arise and the comfort of a quilt is perceived as helpful. We support the Youth Ministry by donating quilts that are auctioned to raise funds.

Individuals of all skill levels are welcomed to join this ministry; from those who have never sewn to those who have made numerous quilts in their lifetime.  There is always a place for you and a way for you to be helpful.  God’s work…our hands.

chemo hat groupThe ministry of the Peace Stitchers is to knit, crochet or sew chemo hats.  These handmade hats are distributed  to oncology and radiation centers in our community for patients experiencing hair loss.  Patterns for these chemo hats are provided.  This is another opportunity to share the talents you have and/or to learn from others and gain new talents.  We look forward to crafters joining us in this ministry.  God’s work…our hands.

Koinonia

Koinonia is a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible. Koinonia’s primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.” The first occurrence of koinonia is Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Christian fellowship is a key aspect of the Christian life. Believers in Christ are to come together in love, faith, and encouragement. That is the essence of koinonia.

Peace supports several different Koinonia groups which meet regularly.  The Peace Calendar provides contact information as well as dates, times, and locations for the meetings.  New members are always welcome.

Christmas in April

This year Christmas in April Charles County celebrates its 20th anniversary, and Peace will be there to share the excitement.  As in previous years, our volunteers will rehabilitate the house of a low-income homeowner, elderly and or disabled person, so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 30, and watch for more information on how you can participate.
