Shekinah, Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13

Metro DC Synod event for seventh and eighth graders was held at the 4-H Center in Front Royal, Virginia. In attendance were Alex B, Michael D, Laurie M, Danielle P, Karl T and Michael W.  The theme this year was “No Strings Attached” based on God’s love for us – no strings attached!  Youth assembled dream catchers for mental health clients of Lutheran Social Services in Washington, D.C. Thanks to Bill McGee and JoAnna Wilson who served as chaperones and chauffeurs. Thanks to Drew A and Pam Pedersen for coordinating this enlightening event.

Still Life Portrayal of the Last Supper Tableau, Maundy Thursday, March 24

Youth enacted events of the Last Supper. Thanks to Chris R and Dean Pedersen for coordinating this effort.

Brunch, Resurrection Sunday, March 27

Youth hosted brunch between services. On the table were egg casseroles, pastries, etc. Thanks to Courtney G and Karla Fletcher for coordinating this event.

Egg Gathering, Sunday March 27

Youth hosted an egg hunt for the younger youth between services. Due to inclement weather this event was held indoors.  Bushes and grasses were crafted by Heidi M and Lauren W. Thanks to Joel D and Michael W for coordinating this event.

Basket Assembly, Sunday, April 3, after Youth Ministry meeting.

Rehearsal, Thursday, April 7 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm

Rehearsal for the Auction & Talent Show will be held at Wish Upon A Star Studio of the Arts, located at 15638 Livingston Road #18, Accokeek.  Contact Sharon Altman for further information.

Rehearsal, Friday, April 8 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm

Rehearsal for the Auction & Talent Show will be held at Peace Lutheran Church.  Contact Sharon Altman for further information.

Auction & Talent Show, Saturday April 9

Youth will host an event to raise funds to attend the National Lutheran Youth Gathering, summer 2006. Contact Cathy Bender and/or Phyllis Farris concerning auction items.  Contact Sharon Altman concerning talent entries.

Maggie Moos’ Fundraiser, Sunday, April 24

Youth will host an in-store event to raise funds to attend the National Lutheran Youth Gathering, summer 2006. The youth will receive 20% of all sales between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00 pm.  Youth needed to scoop ice cream for a few hours.  Experience not necessary, training will be provided on site. Plan to arrive 30 minutes early for required training session. Contact Lauren W for further information.

Future

Youth-led Worship on Mothers’ Day, Sunday, May 8

This is an opportunity for the youth of Peace to share their faith with their brothers and sisters in Christ. A training session and lock-in tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 6. An adult coordinator is required for this.  Please prayerfully consider being a part of this effort.
