About the event
The traditional celebration of St. Francis of Assisi is October 4, and churches around the world often organize an animal blessing on that day. With so much going on at Peace Lutheran these days, we've decided to move our annual Blessing of the Animals to Saturday, October 14, from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Stop by Peace Lutheran with your pets for a short blessing before heading to our 3rd annual Yard and Bake Sale. If the weather does not cooperate, the Yard Sale will be moved indoors.
St. Francis of Assisi was born in the 12th century, lived in Italy, and founded the men’s Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of St. Clare, and the Third Order of Saint Francis for men and women not able to live the lives of itinerant preachers. Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history. He is remembered for his generosity to the poor, his willingness to minister to the lepers, and for his love for animals and nature.
Open to the public. No RSVP/Ticket required.
