New Member Form

We're excited to learn you're interested in becoming a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Membership is a formality that allows individuals certain privileges, specifically the right of voice and vote at regular meetings of this congregation. Our constitution classifies members as follows:

a. Baptized members are those persons who have been received by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in this congregation, or, having been previously baptized in the name of the Triune God, have been received by certificate of transfer from other Lutheran congregations or by affirmation of faith;

b. Confirmed members are baptized persons who have been confirmed in this congregation, those who have been received by adult baptism or by transfer as confirmed members from other Lutheran congregations, or baptized persons received by affirmation of faith.

c.  Voting members are confirmed members. Such confirmed members, during the current or preceding calendar year, shall have communed in this congregation and shall have made a contribution of record to this congregation. Members of this congregation who have satisfied these basic standards shall have the privilege of voice and vote at every regular and special meeting of this congregation as well as the other rights and privileges ascribed to voting members by the provisions of this constitution and its bylaws. They shall not have voted as a seasonal member of another congregation of this church in the previous two calendar months.

It is further the privilege and duty of members of this congregation to:

a. make regular use of the means of grace, both Word and sacraments;

b. live a Christian life in accordance with the Word of God and the teachings of the Lutheran church; and

c. support the work of this congregation, the synod, and the churchwide organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America through contributions of their time, abilities, and financial support as biblical stewards.

The form below collects information we need to record your membership in the church's parish/parochial register. After you submit this form, the Pastor will contact you to schedule a new member class in which you will learn more about Peace Lutheran Church's life and ministry, Lutheran theology, and other topics. New member classes normally meet three times and include other leaders, allowing you to meet other members and hear their stories and perspectives. If a member of your household wishes to be baptized, the pastor will explain the process and work with you to schedule it during the new member class. Additionally, you'll receive an email invitation to establish a Breeze account where you'll have access to the membership directory and can set up regular giving.

New members are received before the congregation during a regular Sunday worship service by the public affirmation of baptism. Together as the body of Christ, we'll affirm with you our baptismal promises to live among God's faithful people; hear the word of God and share in the Lord's Supper; proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed; serve all people following the example of Jesus; and strive for justice and peace in all the earth.

The pastor is always available to answer any questions you might have about the process or the form.  Don't forget to like and follow Peace Lutheran Church on social media: Facebook & Instagram /myplcmd and YouTube @myplcmd
