All Earth is Hopeful - December 16th

“I just can’t do this anymore! I am sick of being stuck at home and not getting together with my friends and family.” “If I open one more snack bag from the pantry with nothing but crumbs I’m going to scream!” “Mom! Why isn’t there anything good to eat?” “I hate this pandemic! I can’t do anything!”

The Bible says in Psalms 118:24, “The Lord has done it this very day; Let us rejoice today and be glad.”

Rejoice? Be glad? Today?!

Yes! Today! I can do this because the Lord does it every day for me! I am joyful that I have a home with everything I need. I am glad to be able to see my friends and family through Facetime and Zoom, and talk to them whenever I want on my phone. I have been able to see them occasionally in person (masked) and feel their loving energy. My pantry is full of boxes and bags with snacks, and all different kinds of good foods. My family is with me, safe and healthy, and eating meals together.

I am finding joy in my healthy body and using it to serve others at Elsie’s Pantry, delivering treat bags to my Peace family, and helping to prepare the sanctuary for worship and the Advent season. I am spiritually joyful by reading and studying and being in fellowship with a Koinonia group regularly, attending Adult forum each Sunday, and the Prayer services each month, via Zoom. I find joy in this very day by working with others at Peace to prepare Christmas gift food baskets for Seniors in our community, and donating what I can to Community services and Middleton Elementary school.

We can do this! The Lord is our salvation and he has given us this day! Rejoice!

I pray we all take time to find our reasons to rejoice each and every day for what the Lord has done for us.
