Thank you!

We appreciate everyone who helped pack up the Christmas decorations after worship last week.

Choir - Come make a joyful noise!

The choir will still rehearse in the choir room every Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. New singers are always welcome to join the choir at Peace Lutheran Church. If you haven't sang in a choir before or if it's been a long since you last did, we'd love to have you join us on Wednesday nights.

Handbell Choir

Participating in the handbell choir at Peace Lutheran Church is a great option if you're not a big fan of singing but would still like to learn an instrument and spend time with other people while having fun. Participation in a handbell choir is accessible to anyone, whether they have musical experience or are curious about learning an instrument for the first time. Handbells meet Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary starting at 6:15 p.m.

Confirmation Bootcamp

The confirmation students are now on break from in-person classes, allowing them to complete their first confirmation project and volunteer at Elsie's Pantry. Our group of confirmands came out this past Saturday to learn more about the food pantry while helping to distribute food and learning how to put together packages for various family sizes. The spirit and gifts brought by the confirmands to Saturday's distribution day were a blessing to all.

Confirmation students will assist with distribution at Elsie's Pantry on Saturday, January 21 from 9:00-11:00 a.m., and will return to in-person lessons with Pastor Eric beginning at noon on Sunday, January 29.

Book of Revelation Adult Bible Study Coming Soon!

During Lent, Pastor Eric intends to lead an adult bible study on the Book of Revelation. Because of the intricacies of the content and imagery, the Book of Relation is one of the most difficult books of scripture to digest. Revelation has inspired movie franchises, conspiracy theories, and other endeavors, yet these endeavors overlook the book's central message of hope. The study will cover a variety of chapters and will delve into subjects such as marginalization, economics, and politics as they pertain to our shared faith.

Tentatively, the study will be held for three weeks beginning the week of March 13. Please take a minute to complete the brief survey below to help with planning.

Lenten & Easter Planning

As we say farewell to the holiday season, it's time to start thinking about Lent and Easter. In the coming weeks, Pastor Eric will meet with clergy from Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Calvary United Methodist Church to discuss how our three congregations can worship together during the Lenten season.

Pastor Eric will make announcements to the congregation as plans for joint Ash Wednesday and Good Friday worship take shape. At the end of the month, the Worship & Music committee will gather to discuss Lent and Easter too.

Sanctuary Projector & Fellowship Hall Heating Update

We are pleased to report that the church's projector and the HVAC system in the fellowship hall are now operational.

Support Peace Lutheran Church and Help the Environment

We are continually on the lookout for new ways to raise money and improve our environmental practices. TruEarth detergent and other products come highly recommended. Anything you order will be sent directly to you. An envelope made of cardboard transports the detergent. After more than a year of use, I can say that I am loyal to the products now. They're convenient because they're not messy to use and eco-friendly because they save me from buying plastic storage containers and filling the landfill.

Visit https://fundraising.tru.earth/myplc and 20% of your purchase will be donatedtoPeace Lutheran Church! Please forward this link to your friends and family viasocialmedia, email, or text message.

New Church Management Program Coming Soon

Peace Lutheran Church has been using the ICON system to manage parish data and giving for several years. However, considering the variety of modern church management systems on the market and their capabilities, it's evident that ICON is becoming obsolete and difficult to use. Peace Lutheran Church will begin converting to anew program called BREEZE in January to manage our parish records, giving, attendance, activities, and more. The advantages of switching to BREEZE include an easy-to-use system for backend users such as tellers, financial secretaries, and treasurers. Frontend users (contributors and members) will be able to keep their information up to date and handle regular and recurring giving more easily thanks to a centralized website or the BREZZE smartphone app. The system will also allow for scheduling worship assistants (lectors, acolytes, cantors, etc.).

Peace leadership is committed to not rushing the implementation of the new system. In the coming weeks, the finance committee will work on an official roll-out timeline, with complete implementation anticipated for the end of March 2023. This method will enable leadership to clean up parochial records while also allowing members and other contributors to change their records and online giving preferences. More information to come!
