CHILDREN'S MASS SUNDAY, JANUARY 22

Pastor Eric is passionate about encouraging children of all ages to participate in worship by sharing their talents. On Sunday, January 22, we will hold the first "Children's Mass," where children will be invited to participate in portions of the liturgy with Pastor Eric. Children will join Pastor Eric at the altar for holy communion this Sunday as a soft launch of this new initiative. The communion liturgy we'll be utilizing is intended not only to praise and honor God, but also to tell children the story of communion. During holy communion, children will help Pastor Eric with the consecration of bread and wine.

Later in the year, we'll increase children's participation to include helping with lessons, prayers, and communion distribution to help build their confidence. We'll gather the youngsters after they've experienced each portion of the liturgy to join Pastor Eric in leading a complete worship service.

RECONCILING IN CHRIST SUNDAY

Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Sunday is an annual worship celebration created to share in the commitment our faith community has in the ongoing work of welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ people in the life of the church. Peace Lutheran Church will celebrate RIC Sunday on January 29 at 10:00 a.m.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY DURING LENT

During Lent, Pastor Eric intends to lead an adult bible study on the Book of Revelation. Because of the intricacies of the content and imagery, the Book of Relation is one of the most difficult books of scripture to digest. Revelation has inspired movie franchises, conspiracy theories, and other endeavors, yet these endeavors overlook the book's central message of hope. The study will cover a variety of chapters and will delve into subjects such as marginalization, economics, and politics as they pertain to our shared faith.

Tentatively, the study will be held for three weeks beginning the week of March 13. Please take a minute to complete the brief survey below to help with planning.

SAFE NIGHTS RETURNING IN FEBRUARY

COMING SOON NEW CHURCH APP

Peace Lutheran Church has been using the ICON system to manage parish data and giving for several years. However, considering the variety of modern church management systems on the market and their capabilities, it's evident that ICON is becoming obsolete and difficult to use. Peace Lutheran Church will begin converting to anew program called BREEZE in January to manage our parish records, giving, attendance, activities, and more. The advantages of switching to BREEZE include an easy-to-use system for backend users such as tellers, financial secretaries, and treasurers. Frontend users (contributors and members) will be able to keep their information up to date and handle regular and recurring giving more easily thanks to a centralized website or the BREZZE smartphone app. The system will also allow for scheduling worship assistants (lectors, acolytes, cantors, etc.).

Peace leadership is committed to not rushing the implementation of the new system. In the coming weeks, the finance committee will work on an official roll-out timeline, with complete implementation anticipated for the end of March 2023. This method will enable leadership to clean up parochial records while also allowing members and other contributors to change their records and online giving preferences. More information to come!

MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE!

The choir will still rehearse in the choir room every Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. New singers are always welcome to join the choir at Peace Lutheran Church. If you haven't sang in a choir before or if it's been a long since you last did, we'd love to have you join us on Wednesday nights.

HANDBELLS

Participating in the handbell choir at Peace Lutheran Church is a great option if you're not a big fan of singing but would still like to learn an instrument and spend time with other people while having fun. Participation in a handbell choir is accessible to anyone, whether they have musical experience or are curious about learning an instrument for the first time. Handbells meet Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary starting at 6:15 p.m.
