OASIS

OASIS, the youth group of Peace Lutheran Church is committed to helping youth have a relationship with Jesus and become more like Jesus. We are here to REACH students with the love of Jesus Christ, CONNECT them to the community of believers, EQUIP them to grow in their faith, ACT through service, and EXALT God with their lives.

OASIS is open to all youth within the congregation and the broader community of Waldorf who have entered the sixth grade. High School graduates and college alumni are welcome to become volunteers for the Youth Group.

WE+NIGHTS

WE+Night, our Wednesday youth fellowship night, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., is an opportunity for youth, grades 6 through 12, to come together for an evening of fellowship that includes devotions, dinner, games, and homework assistance. Youth Nights are staffed by our Youth and Family Minister and adult volunteers.

Fellowship Activities

Special activities are planned throughout the year to engage youth to REACH, CONNECT, EQUIP, ACT, and EXALT God in their lives. Special activities include excursions into Washington, DC, an afternoon at the movies, sporting events, and retreats to name a few. Fellowship activities are held on months where no service projects are scheduled.

Service Projects

Throughout the year, OASIS engages in service projects that support the ministry of Peace Lutheran Church, Waldorf, and Charles County, Maryland. Service projects are scheduled every-other-month totaling six per calendar year.

ELCA Youth Gathering

Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.

An important part of the Gathering’s ministry are the two pre-events, the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE), a faith formation and leadership development event primarily for youth of color, and the tAble, a gathering that gathers, blesses and empowers youth with disabilities.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

- Deuteronomy 31:6
