Baptism

Baptism is an exciting event in life at any age (newborn through adulthood) and a significant part of our faith journey as we come from the baptismal waters to live a new life as children of God. Marked with the cross of Christ and sealed by the Spirit, we receive a new identity as followers of Jesus, and the story of Jesus becomes our story.

At Peace Lutheran (and in the Lutheran faith), we believe a person is baptized into the larger Christian community within a Lutheran context. Therefore, at Peace Lutheran specifically, we ask that the family joins the congregation at the time of the baby's baptism or that an adult being baptized becomes a member of Peace Lutheran Church. It's our deep hope that we can partner with the newly baptized in their faith development and growth. Investing in our little ones as well as new baptized adults is important to us, so while the baptism is a one-time event, the expectation of membership is the continued collaboration and development of the spiritual and faith life with us in community.

Baptisms typically happen during worship service and are done by Peace Lutheran’s pastor. If you are interested in having your child baptized, please email us and one of our pastors will be in touch!
